Microsoft Baseball 2001 in Stores
Microsoft today announced that Microsoft Baseball 2001, the game that captures all the thrills of Major League Baseball, has started to appear on store shelves.
There have been several reports of its availability at locations throughout the United States. To celebrate the launch of Baseball 2001, Microsoft is releasing downloadable desktop wallpaper for five Major League stadiums, with more to be made available in the coming weeks.
Microsoft Baseball 2001 features a newly added comprehensive front-office management simulation, intense graphics, ambient sounds and seamless arcade action delivering gameplay so immersive, the smell of hot dogs hangs in the air.
Baseball lovers can now bring Major League ballparks to their desktop. The Microsoft Baseball 2001 downloadable desktop wallpaper features Pacific Bell Park, Yankee Stadium, Turner Field, Jacobs Field and The Ballpark at Arlington.
The wallpaper is available for download here. More stadiums will be available in the coming weeks. Check the official Baseball 2001 site for details. Baseball 2001 is endorsed by two-time All-Star and 1997 Rookie of the Year shortstop Nomar Garciaparra, who graces the game's box cover.
The game features the award-winning Baseball Mogul technology that allows players to control key front-office aspects of the game, letting them handle everything from the financial responsibilities of tracking a club's payroll to the general managerial duties of fostering trades and signing free agents. The game continues the tradition of eye-popping graphics with its 3D motion-captured player animations.
The game also delivers high-quality sound effects, such as the crack of leather on hardwood, and Arizona Diamondbacks announcer Thom Brennaman returns with his trademark play-by-play commentary.
Baseball 2001 features accurate statistics from the 1999 MLB season, as well as all 35 stadiums, including brand-new Pacific Bell Park, Comerica Park, Enron Field and Miller Park. Microsoft Baseball 2001 has an estimated street price of US$29.99.
